MA/MS in History (research): Ancient History

This two-year research master studies the Greek and Roman world from 400 BC to 400 AD, focusing on mentality and social and economic history, with a wide array of subjects, among them acculturation and romanisation theory, Roman social history, Graeco-Roman religion, and the emergence of early Judaism. Students develop skill in reading documentary texts, particularly Greek inscriptions, and learn to apply methods from other fields, bringing fresh perspectives to the topics analysed and critiquing current academic theories. The cohort draws together students from history, classics and archaeology.
