MA/MS in International Relations: Global Political Economy

The specialisation builds a grasp of the world economy together with the social and political foundations beneath it, examining the economy through critical perspectives applied to major contemporary issues. Students address concerns such as what drives economic growth, poverty and inequality; how the organisation, operation and underlying logic of global industries are changing; the sustainability and equity challenges arising from global capitalism; and what the world market means for the future of democracy. Drawing on multiple disciplines and a range of theoretical, geographical and societal standpoints, it equips students with the ideas and skills needed to take part in debates on the contemporary world economy.
