MA/MS in Latin American Studies

The programme covers the diversity that defines contemporary Latin America today, social, cultural, historical and linguistic, with students able to focus on any country in the region according to their research interests, including a particular strand in Brazilian studies. Teaching draws on Faculty of Humanities scholars and visiting experts to explore current social, political, linguistic and cultural developments in the region, through one of three disciplinary tracks: Language Variation and Bilingualism, Public Policies in Latin America, or Cultural Analysis in Latin America. A fieldwork component sends students on a research trip to Latin America, immersing them in a Latin American culture and language while building their ability to conduct research and communicate professionally.
