MA/MS in Translation

This master's programme in translation combines theory, research and practice, preparing graduates for either academic research or professional work as a project manager, terminologist, subtitler, translator or language consultant. Students work with professional translation software and study developments in computer-assisted and machine translation, while also learning to assess these tools critically in the context of increasing globalisation and multicultural communication. Electives cover legal, literary, medical and multimodal translation, including subtitling, and instruction is given by staff experienced in both academic research and professional practice. Translation practice runs in both directions between English and Dutch, and graduates gain the eligibility needed to enter the national register of sworn translators and interpreters.
