Program details

Overview

The two-year Chemistry of Life track within the Chemistry Master's programme focuses on aspects of chemistry connected to living systems, such as the role enzymes play in organic chemistry, biomolecular simulation, and biotechnological approaches used in industry. The track brings chemistry and biology together while remaining chemistry-focused at its core, with courses covering how chemical knowledge can deepen biological study, how biological techniques can be applied to producing molecules, and how a solid grounding in chemistry can improve understanding of biomolecules, a combination of chemical and biological knowledge currently in strong demand in the labour market. It is a joint degree with Vrije Universiteit Amsterdam, with teaching delivered at both universities and a single degree certificate issued jointly, giving students access to expertise, networks and research projects across both institutions and affiliated research bodies.
