DAS Theatre is a master’s programme for research-based artistic and curatorial practices in the field of theatre that is open to Dutch and international practitioners working in the performing arts as artists, curators, directors, performance makers and dramaturgs.

Engaged Professionalism

The programme is designed to give you the knowledge and skills needed to conduct socially engaged interventions in the international museum and heritage field. You will study how current societal transitions have an impact on and can be impacted by museum and heritage work. Based on real questions and real situations, you will discuss and conceptualise exhibitions, educational programmes, policies and community projects as cultural interventions in an ever-changing world. In line with current global developments, the three main themes running throughout the programme are sustainability, inclusivity and digitality.

The Master's Degree Programme in Film at the Netherlands Film Academy offers a select group of filmmakers and visual, media or other artists the opportunity for further personal and professional development within an investigate, highly demanding and internationally oriented setting. The focus of the course is on artistic research in and through film, defined as an ongoing process in which artistic practice feeds the need for research, which in turn inspires artistic practice.
The programme aims to contribute to the development of cinema and media culture by emphasizing the need to reflect and research, experiment and exchange. It’s our strong belief that innovation needs research and that research involves developing a creative identity, mastering methodologies, undertaking experiments and articulating or conceptualizing both process and outcome.
This research question and project idea also serve also serve as the thread that runs throughout the programme. The programme is therefore largely question-driven.

During the Master in Architecture at the Academy of Architecture, you will learn how to find and promote your own position within the broad field of architecture. The concurrent model, a proven combination of study and work experience, inspired guest lecturers from the field and the small-scale and international study programme in the centre of the city, offers all the tools you need to develop into a fully-fledged architect so that you can blossom into an inspiring spatial artist with your own architectural signature, who is fully equipped to play a central role in the design process. At the Academy of Architecture, you will be trained to be an architect who dares to stick his or her neck out and who is prepared to look further than the world you already know. You see opportunities, can inspire others, dare to make choices and know how to integrate these, so that the whole is more than the sum of the parts.

Cities are sources of inspiration and fascination, shaped by multiple hands. Cities are also places where the complex challenges of climate change and social justice intersect. What if we could lessen humanity’s impact on the planet by reshaping our societies to prioritize habitat restoration, embrace nature-inclusive practices, promote shared access to infrastructure, and cultivate deeper connections through community and localism?

During the Master in Urbanism you will learn to understand the city in all its complexity and often improbable scale to make smart strategic development proposals for its future and to make both functional and attractive design proposals for actual places in the city, while learning to consider the impact of these processes on our planet. As urban planner, you will learn to translate the desires of citizens, entrepreneurs and administrators, and the analyses, theories and stories of sociologists, economists, town and country planners, traffic engineers and similar disciplines into concrete and meaningful spatial design proposals—for the street, neighbourhood, district, city and urban region. While doing so, you will learn to consider other-than-human and nature perspectives as equally central stakeholders in cities shaping.

This two-year non-residential programme of Higher Professional Education of the Amsterdam School for the Arts aims to contribute to the field of critical and contemporary dance research and creation in the Netherlands and abroad.

Landscape architecture researches, sketches and shapes the landscape in which we live. In this field, you will work with the natural and the human made, the tangible and the imaginary, the practical and the poetic on a daily basis. We work on different scale levels, from garden to region, and always take the influence of time into account. As a landscape architect, you have practical knowledge of soil, water, trees and plants, among other things. You understand how people and nature are intertwined and how to shape this relationship.
