Program details

Overview

The two-year track covers both the observational and theoretical sides of modern astronomy and astrophysics, using new generations of instruments, on the ground and in space, to study how planets, stars, star systems and the universe originate, take shape and evolve. It is a joint degree with Vrije Universiteit Amsterdam. Subject matter spans how the laws of physics play out across the universe, the birth of planetary systems and stars, the origin and nature of black holes and neutron stars and the extreme physical processes around them, and the history of the universe itself.
