Students start with legal history and constitutional law, then work through civil, criminal, commercial, administrative and finance and tax law, together with European Union law, human rights and intellectual property. Newer topics include international arbitration, the governance of AI and the law of information technology.
Teaching draws on lectures, discussion of cases and academic research, supported by a clinical legal component and hands-on training. These formats are meant to build skills in interpretation, written argument, advocacy, negotiation and ethical judgment.
The university presents the course as preparation for work in courts and regulators, corporate legal teams, public bodies, international organisations and civil society, and for further academic study.
