BA/BS in Historie

The 180-credit bachelor in history covers the development of societies in Norway and internationally, from antiquity to the modern era. Students study political revolutions, cultural encounters, technological change and everyday life in earlier times. The programme suits students who enjoy understanding connections, asking questions and looking at things from different perspectives. Students develop skills in critical reading, source analysis and academic writing. Teaching is about six to eight hours a week, through lectures and seminar groups, with self-study alongside. Within the degree students can specialise in different historical periods and themes. Graduates can continue to a master's in history or work in education, public administration, cultural heritage, media, politics, diplomacy and the private sector.
