This part-time, one-year course covers risk, vulnerability and emergency preparedness in organisations. It explains how organisations can prevent crises and set up preparedness so they can respond well when unwanted events happen. The main element is preparedness work, covering an organisation's environment, structure, culture and way of working. Students learn analysis tools for assessing vulnerability and estimating risk, along with practical crisis organisation.
The course is taught over two semesters at the Rena campus, with four to five two-day gatherings per semester during the day. Attendance is expected though not compulsory. The course can be combined with a job. Admission requires general study competence, and applicants apply through the local application system.
