Master in Personal Status Law

The Master's programme in Personal Status Law is run by the College of Law at A'Sharqiyah University. It centres on legal research, the needs of the labour market and service to the community, and aims to prepare graduates who can enter employment or continue to doctoral study. Coursework covers the legal sources and theories behind Omani personal status law, including its procedural and substantive rules, and compares it with other legal systems and Islamic jurisprudence. Graduates are expected to analyse legal problems critically, propose workable solutions and keep to the ethical standards of the legal profession. Completion requires passing all courses with a cumulative GPA of at least 3.00 out of 4.00, which also opens thesis registration, followed by a successful thesis defence. A student who withdraws from the thesis or fails the defence may receive a graduate higher diploma instead.
