MSc Data Science

This master's programme in data science is taught at Middle East College in affiliation with Coventry University. It prepares students from varied backgrounds, including non-computing ones, for work on data science teams, or to go on to further academic study. The programme builds a base in software design and development together with the mathematical concepts and theory behind data science methods and algorithms, independent of current tools. It adds depth in machine learning and big data, and develops practical, analytical and professional abilities throughout the stages of a data science project. The semester plan begins with data science principles and programming, then moves to machine learning, database management and large-scale data analytics with visualisation, before a research project preparation module, a data science project and a module on entrepreneurial practice. Study takes one year full time or two years part time, with half the delivery online and half on campus.
