Diploma in Civil Engineering

The Diploma in Civil Engineering is a two-year programme at the engineering college of the National University in Oman for students who want focused knowledge of civil engineering, whether to work in the construction industry or to continue to graduate study. The programme is shaped by the requirements of industry and the job market. The diploma is awarded after 65 credit hours, which include a compulsory industrial internship and a diploma project. The programme aims to build essential knowledge of mathematics, science and civil engineering for success in construction, and to apply that knowledge to design structural members that meet stated needs taking account of safety, environmental, economic and global considerations. It also aims to develop effective writing and technical communication together with ethical values and awareness of societal issues. Students must pass the required courses and finish with a GPA of at least 2.0 to be awarded the diploma.
