Bachelor of Engineering in Architectural Engineering

Architectural Engineering at Sultan Qaboos University leads to a Bachelor of Engineering and has been running since 2002. Over the years the degree plan has been revised several times to strengthen students' grounding in basic science and mathematics, so that the curriculum stays well structured. It combines strong theoretical foundations with applying architectural and engineering principles in practice, and includes courses on the ethical and social values of the profession. Admission differs from other engineering majors. Applicants submit a portfolio of free-hand drawings, photography or other creative work, and selection is by merit, calculated from 80 percent of cumulative GPA and 20 percent of the portfolio. The programme holds accreditation from ABET's Engineering Accreditation Commission. Graduating requires 156 credits spread across university requirements, college requirements and departmental requirements.
