Program details
Overview
The Interior Architecture Engineering programme at Dhofar University dates from 2005 and was set up to meet demand for qualified professionals in this field across industry, government and service organisations. It extends access to engineering education to students from several cities and regions.
The curriculum provides a foundation in the design and analysis of interior architecture systems. Topics range from furniture design and lighting to finishes, accessibility rules and building codes, spatial planning and the digital drawing of designs, delivered through laboratories, projects and industry-focused training. Placements with design firms and engineering organisations, including an eight-week field placement, link study to practice.
Graduates are prepared for posts in consulting on interior architecture, spatial design, human-centred design and project coordination, or for research and further education. Typical sectors include residential and commercial interiors, heritage conservation, sustainable interiors and workplace ergonomics. Applicants need a General Education Diploma or equivalent and a pass in the Foundation Program at Dhofar University or another recognised institution.
