This diploma introduces architectural engineering through two years of study, combining creative design thinking with technical competence. Teaching is in English, and the page lists the Ibra, Muscat, Musannah and Salalah branches. Successful graduates may continue to the Advanced Diploma in Architectural Engineering.
Learners work towards producing and reading technical drawings in two and three dimensions, presentation drawings and models, and they study vernacular architecture, the materials and methods used in building, surveying for engineering work, and graphics for architecture. They also learn to explain design ideas verbally and visually, respect ethical responsibilities, and work alone or in multidisciplinary teams. They are also expected to produce simple, creative design proposals and to analyse architectural problems logically, rationally and creatively.
Graduates may work as site engineers, space planners, CAD managers or graphic designers, or in architectural drafting, consultancy and building-materials sales.
