The BSc in Chemistry at Qatar University's Department of Chemistry and Earth Sciences holds accreditation from the Canadian Society for Chemistry, which reviews undergraduate chemistry curricula both in Canada and abroad; the program was re-accredited for the 2015-2020 period after an earlier award covering 2009-2013. As part of that review, the curriculum, laboratory courses, instrumentation, and safety standards were examined by international consultants and updated accordingly.
Graduates are expected to hold a working knowledge of the major areas of modern chemistry, use laboratory techniques safely with current equipment, bring quantitative and computational approaches to bear on practical problems, and communicate results to both chemists and non-chemists. The department lists employers for its graduates across Qatar's energy, petrochemical, and steel companies, government ministries, and research and forensic laboratories.
