HBKU's Bachelor of Science in Chemical Engineering, offered by the College of Science and Engineering, trains students to design sustainable industrial processes and develop new materials and energy solutions. Teaching runs over four years in English and totals 130 credits, opening with core science and mathematics before moving into dedicated chemical engineering coursework such as thermodynamics, kinetics, transport phenomena and process safety and economics.
From the later years, students specialise in either Environmental and Sustainable Engineering or Materials and Energy Engineering, building toward process-safety, manufacturing or materials-and-energy careers that draw on the degree's sustainability focus. Teamwork, communication and critical-thinking skills are built in throughout the coursework.
Two tracks shape the final stages of study: a Professional Pathway built around internships and an industry-reviewed capstone project, and an Innovation and Research Pathway aimed at graduates planning further research or entrepreneurial work.
