Master of Arts (Humanities Education)

NIE's humanities education master's programme serves humanities teachers and educational leaders who want to deepen their professional knowledge through interdisciplinary study. It offers many courses on both humanities content and the curriculum and pedagogy of the subject. Its broad themes are globalisation, sustainability, citizenship and heritage, which give participants tools to understand and assess major societal issues and a view into humanities scholarship in schools. It suits education professionals seeking stronger academic qualifications for leadership roles or career advancement. Students can follow a coursework-only route or a coursework route with a dissertation. Moving to the dissertation route requires a cumulative GPA of at least 3.5 and at least four courses totalling 16 AUs, including the core course MAS901. Applicants need an arts degree with honours (or equivalent) in a related subject, or an arts degree plus a year or more of work experience. Intakes are generally in January and August.
