Master of Education (Developmental Psychology)

The Developmental Psychology specialisation of the Master of Education is run by the National Institute of Education for school-based practitioners, for instance primary and secondary teachers and counsellors. It builds detailed knowledge of how learners develop cognitively, socially and emotionally. The topics cover the cognitive, social, emotional and moral development of children and adolescents, issues facing young people today, and fundamental counselling skills. A coursework-only route ends with an integrative project. The content helps practitioners apply research on development to the way they support pupils in school and to their wider work with young people. It is one of 16 specialisations within the Master of Education, a degree intended mainly for teachers employed by schools in Singapore or by the Ministry of Education. Study is available full-time or part-time.
