Early Learning is a part-time, three-year doctoral (third-cycle) programme worth 180 ECTS credits, taught in Koper at the Faculty of Education of the University of Primorska. Graduates receive the title doktor znanosti.
It prepares researchers to investigate educational practice, with the goal of developing new knowledge about the early development of children. Students examine problems connected to the professional interests of individuals and educational institutions and build a critical stance, creativity and innovation when tackling theoretical and practical problems.
Subject-specific competences touch several areas: sensitivity to the arts and creative potential, innovation in early science learning, communication in verbal and non-verbal forms, guiding team work with modern technology, critical understanding of the relationship between media and children, and the theory of developmental psychology. Graduates also learn to choose teaching approaches suited to developmental stage, individual differences and social context.
