Overview
Wood Engineering is a first-cycle professional programme from the Department of Wood Science and Technology at the Biotechnical Faculty of the University of Ljubljana. It educates specialists in woodworking with strong applied knowledge of technologies for processing and treating wood and fibrous composites.
Teaching rests on how wood is structured and what properties it has as a renewable engineering material, on woodworking technologies and processes, and on product development, legal compliance in business and marketing. Students gain competences for solving practical problems through a project approach, with weight on independent and critical thinking. Study is full-time only and lasts three years in six semesters, with 60 ECTS credits earned each year and 180 in total. Graduates receive the title Bachelor of Applied Science (B.A.Sc.).
Enrolment is limited: Slovenian and EU citizens compete for 60 places, non-EU applicants for 4, Slovenians without Slovenian citizenship for 2 and parallel studies for 3.
Requirements
