— it helps other students.
The master's programme in speech and language therapy at the Faculty of Education follows on from the undergraduate programme in terms of content and lasts one year. It deepens expertise and practical experience in selected areas and builds the ability to evaluate the tools, methods and programmes used in diagnosis and therapy.
Students are prepared to find new knowledge sources, to use scientific research approaches on difficult questions in the field, and to take charge of the most challenging work environments. Objectives include stronger knowledge and skills in pedagogy, medicine and linguistics, the competence to use diagnostic tools, and advanced interventions for communication, hearing, speech and language.
Given how many disciplines the field draws on, the faculty states that a second-cycle qualification is the least needed to practise independently and successfully as a Master Speech and Language Therapist. The programme also provides a basis for doctoral study and continuing professional development.
