Elementary Education is a one-year master's programme in classroom teaching, offered by the Faculty of Education at the University of Maribor. It carries 60 ECTS credits and leads to the Master of Arts degree.
The programme educates a broad-minded graduate with the broad and specialised knowledge and competences needed for contemporary classroom teaching in primary school. Graduates solve problems creatively in the varied and unpredictable situations of the educational process, justify their pedagogical and didactic decisions with reasoned, research-based arguments, and are employable.
The area of employment is wide and covers the first two-thirds of primary education, including extended-stay classes. Graduates can also work in public institutions that look after the development and research of the field, such as the university, an institute of education or a pedagogical institute, and they may take part in individual projects. Third-level study is open to them.
Requirements
Admission Requirements: Open to holders of a first-cycle degree in the education of classroom teachers (0111, 0113) worth 240 ECTS. Equivalent foreign qualifications are accepted too. If there are more candidates than places, selection is based on the average grade of the earlier degree.
