Program details
Overview
The Master of Science in Biology at UZH centres on a one-year research project that follows a semester of coursework. An individual Learning Agreement tailors advanced modules, and students choose one of 14 concentrations, from animal behaviour to quantitative and systems biology.
Students learn to plan their progress, formulate research questions, carry out experiments or fieldwork, and analyse data statistically. The programme ends with a self-study module examined orally and in writing, and the thesis may lead to a journal publication.
