Program details

Overview

The Bachelor's programme in Biotechnology is an interdisciplinary blend of biology, medicine and engineering that aims to produce or analyse useful compounds from micro-organisms, animal and plant cells, and their components. Biotechnological methods also yield compounds that chemistry alone struggles to make. Students choose a major in bioprocess development and bioengineering or in molecular, micro- and cell biology, and can add one of six interdisciplinary minors in the fifth semester. Teaching is mainly in German, and the programme emphasises independent work, creativity, teamwork and communication through industry projects.
