The Faculty of Medicine at Balıkesir University runs a six-year pre-graduate medicine programme. It aims to train physicians who apply evidence-based scientific knowledge, ethical values and sensitivity to community health needs, following the National Core Education Programme (UÇEP). Students combine research projects, social responsibility projects and training in communication, professionalism and patient safety.
The first three years cover basic and clinical medical sciences through theory, practical work, skills training and problem-based learning. Clinical clerkships run in the fourth and fifth years, and the sixth year is an internship (intörnlük) that develops clinical knowledge, skills and professional competence. The programme is taught in Turkish.

Admission Requirements: Placed centrally by ÖSYM through YKS, score type SAY. 170 places; lowest placement score 504.7 (success rank 16,379). Minimum success rank of 50,000 in SAY required.

Application Process: Turkish applicants list the programme among their choices (tercih) in ÖSYM's central placement after the YKS results each July; international applicants apply directly to the university's international student office under the YÖS quota, usually between May and August.
