Overview

This MPhil/PhD examines the relationship between psychological and social processes, drawing on several disciplines including anthropology and sociology. The psychosocial studies team brings together scholars from a variety of academic backgrounds. The programme offers an excellent forum for developing specialist and transferable research skills. Candidates gain experience in large-scale research projects and in teaching, alongside a supervisor from the team. Applicants usually hold a good master's in a humanities or social science subject, and must submit a detailed research outline showing significance and originality. Graduates pursue academic research and teaching, or careers in counselling, public health and policy.

Admission Requirements: The entry requirement for this MPhil/PhD Psychosocial Studies is a good master’s degree in a relevant subject in the humanities or social sciences, although we will consider an application from someone who has a first- or good second-class honours degree in one of these subjects.
