A supervised doctoral research programme in physics, in which each student is assigned a specialist supervisor and usually works within an established research group. The precise research field is agreed at entry, based on the student's interests and the facilities available. Full-time study runs three to four years, with a longer part-time route.

Admission Requirements: Applicants normally need a UK Master's Pass or equivalent, plus a high II.i in a four-year integrated master's degree, or a high II.i bachelor's honours degree together with a relevant one- or two-year master's.
