Overview

The MASt in Mathematics (Applied Mathematics) is the applied stream of the Master of Advanced Study in Mathematics, often called Part III. It is a taught master's course that prepares graduates for research and for applications of mathematics in industry, teaching and research establishments. Candidates apply to one of four streams and may choose only one. The course is a nine-month taught programme in which the applied stream builds advanced mathematical methods and their uses. External students are admitted to the MASt, while Cambridge students continuing from the Mathematical Tripos are admitted to the MMath, which has the same requirements and structure. Graduates are well placed for doctoral research in applied mathematics and for analytical roles that depend on advanced mathematical training.
