Program details

Overview

The Bioscience program prepares biological technicians, who assist scientists in studying living organisms and often work in medical research. Technicians run routine laboratory tasks and also help adapt procedures, interpret data and solve problems. Laboratory training is extensive, and one of the final courses is an applied biotechnology internship requiring at least 120 hours in a lab or company, which often leads to a job there. Certain classes visit nearby employers in the field. Several major bioscience companies operate in the college's service area and keep close ties with the program through its graduates.
