Overview
The Dental Hygiene curriculum builds cognitive, psychomotor and affective skills for providing patient care aimed at preventing and controlling oral disease. It combines general education with biomedical, dental and hygiene sciences plus clinical practice.
In clinical practice, hygienists evaluate patients, plan and deliver care and keep records, collaborating with colleagues in other health fields. Graduates of an accredited program become eligible for the national written board exam, a regional clinical exam and the clinical board of the state where they intend to practice.
