Overview

The Biotechnology associate degree readies graduates for life science employment or transfer, with laboratory-style practice in biology and chemistry. Technicians carry out experiments and assays, manufacture products, assist research, maintain equipment, control inventory and document safe, compliant practice. The associate degree combines the major courses with general education and electives to reach the 60-unit total the college requires. It can serve as a stopping point for entering work or as a base for continued study, and the college publishes a separate general requirements page for the full pattern. Major courses call for at least a C. Students should confirm the full course list in the college catalog and speak with a counselor about sequencing. Advisors at the college are available to answer questions about planning and next steps.
