Auburn's Master of Industrial Design has been accredited by NASAD, the national association for art and design schools. Applicants should hold a bachelor's degree in industrial design or an equivalent from a recognized institution.
Those whose bachelor's is in a neighboring field like architecture, fashion, interior or graphic design can apply by the regular route. Acceptance depends heavily on portfolio review.
People with a related design degree or a non-design degree who are not accepted directly may apply on the condition that they complete 43 or more postbaccalaureate hours in industrial design, taken as undergraduate courses, and hold a 3.0 average. These students are admitted in the summer semester and receive a BS in industrial design studies once three semesters are done, then carry on in the graduate program.
