BA/BS in Biology, General

Biology majors at Boston University gain a wide understanding of the life sciences and may go deeper into one of several specialized areas. Required coursework and each specialization establish core knowledge of biology and neighboring sciences. Students advance through lectures, labs, fieldwork and seminars, and they are encouraged to take part in the faculty's research to build practical laboratory and field abilities. The department also maintains broad opportunities beyond the classroom. Graduates are expected to know principles that run through biology, from evolution to how energy and matter change, to use the scientific method by reading research critically, analyzing data and applying models, and to develop technical and analytical skills for jobs or further study, including professional careers and science teaching.
