Students in this doctorate join the Biomolecular Pharmacology training program and start a core sequence immediately. It combines foundational biomedical science with physiology, pharmacology at the molecular and translational levels, lab methods, systems pharmacology, experimental therapeutics and a seminar on current topics.
The first year and a half stress coursework, and three lab rotations let students sample possible dissertation projects. Three advanced electives round out the classes.
In the final three years, dissertation research takes priority, supplemented by advanced courses, research reports and professional development activities. The training focus is basic and translational research.
Doctoral students work closely with faculty advisors throughout, moving from structured coursework toward independent scholarship and a final dissertation. Prospective applicants should consult the program page and the relevant school admissions pages for current requirements, deadlines and tuition, since those details are not given on the program page.
