BA/BS in Education, Other

This undergraduate program lets students develop insight into, and appreciation for, the heritage, achievements and current concerns of Deaf communities across America. Students are expected to show proficiency in American Sign Language, rated at an intermediate level or better, and to hold social and academic conversations in the language, including during a term-long field placement in Deaf-related agencies. They also plan and carry out Deaf Studies events each academic year under faculty guidance. Effective with the fall 2022 intake, new applicants are admitted to the Education and Human Development degree instead. Course details, learning outcomes and degree requirements appear on the program page, and the university's general education framework applies alongside the major. Study can be organized around advisor guidance, and candidates are encouraged to review prerequisites and policies before applying.
