The biology major at BGSU is run by the Department of Biological Sciences and leads to either a B.S. or a B.A., at the student's choice. The program stresses active learning, individual research and collaboration across disciplines. Focus areas include ecology, conservation, marine and freshwater life, and pre-health preparation, with related options in microbiology and neuroscience. Graduates may work in medicine, research, teaching, biotech or environmental protection. Support resources include a boot camp for new majors, department scholarships and a residential community for natural and health science students. A minor is offered too. The breadth of the discipline means students can tailor electives toward laboratory research, field study or health professions.
