BA/BS in Biology, General

The biology major offers a flexible route to a bachelor's degree from the Department of Biology. Students can follow tracks in cell and molecular biology, high school teaching for grades nine to twelve, or ecology and evolutionary biology. The program explores life across scales, from molecules and cells up to whole ecosystems and global environments. All majors take a common set of core courses and must earn at least a C in every required biology course. The training is aimed at graduates heading toward ecology, environmental science, teaching, molecular biology, research or health and science work. Biology faculty also run majors in environmental science and in biomedical science, and a minor in biology. The department takes part in a medical laboratory science major and a neuroscience minor, and it offers an accelerated 4+1 route to a bachelor's and master's, plus a Master of Science in Biology.
