BA/BS in Biotechnology

Two tracks are available here. The biotechnology track leads toward graduate study or work in cellular and molecular biology or biotechnology in industrial, agricultural, medical or comparable settings. The medical technology track readies them for the clinical training year and the state licensing exam for laboratory scientists, or for public health microbiology preparation and certification. Whichever track they pick, students ought to talk with the matching faculty advisor. Bachelor of Science students complete the designated core plus the required courses and selective program of an option. The core has 27 lower division units. The option requires 21 units common to both tracks, including microbiology and biochemistry with labs, and then 17 to 20 units in the chosen track. This option may not be paired with another major or option inside the biology department.
