BA/BS in Communication and Media Studies

Carlow University grants a communications bachelor's degree, a BA, to students who want to work with audiences through speech, print and multimedia. The major treats communication as a practical toolkit, which suits learners drawn to public advocacy, marketing or business leadership. Students may steer the degree toward a specialty such as digital media, advocacy and social change, or managing organizations. Outside the classroom they can write for the student paper, announce athletic contests, or rehearse presentations in a campus lab where peer tutors help with public speaking. The major is taught on the Oakland campus. Undergraduates can choose a three-year schedule or an accelerated route that starts graduate coursework early, and a large amount of transfer credit is accepted. Applicants can begin in any of three terms during the year.
