Program details

Overview

This graduate degree is aimed at educators who want to take on administrative roles in elementary and secondary schools or whole districts. Assignments are built around real projects, so candidates practice the day-to-day judgment that running a school demands. Students progress together as one cohort. Most reading and written work happens online through Canvas, while the group meets face to face for a single weekend every month to discuss ideas and rehearse leadership situations. Completing the sequence qualifies graduates to seek Wisconsin licensure as a principal and as a director of instruction. Extra credits can be added for those who also want the license covering special education and pupil services. Field placements in working schools, along with instructors who have led in the field themselves, connect the coursework to practice. An admission counselor can explain how the degree might suit your plans.
