BA/BS in History

The History major in the Department of Humanities explores the past through several lenses, including African American, world, and Asian history, along with women's history. The program draws on the perspectives of its faculty to help students connect historical study with their own cultural and social contexts. Majors take a sequence covering research fundamentals, recent historical study, civil rights, and South Carolina history, alongside general education courses. Students can pursue internships across South Carolina and nationally, and study abroad options reach destinations around the world. Because the program also offers general education courses to the entire campus community, students across majors can encounter its historical perspectives. Its scope takes in culture, politics, literature, the arts, faith traditions, and contemporary concerns.
