Program details

Overview

The Civil Engineering associate degree is designed for students who intend to move on to an accredited engineering program and apply most of their credits toward a Bachelor of Science degree. The curriculum develops a solid grounding in engineering principles, pairing mathematics, basic sciences and engineering fundamentals with liberal arts courses that are accepted by most bachelor's degree programs. Applicants should be ready to begin calculus, which is demonstrated by a placement examination or by finishing pre-calculus, and they are advised to sit the exam before the summer session begins. Classes meet at the Knight campus in Warwick, and two or more courses are finished through URI. Changes to the program are posted on the webpage of the Physics and Engineering Department.

Requirements

Admission Requirements: Mathematics placement examination at a calculus level (ready for Calculus I MATH 2141) or completion of Pre-Calculus Mathematics (MATH 2111); taking the placement exam before the summer session is recommended.
