AA/AS in Computer Science

The Computer Science offering introduces students to how computers work and how they can be used to solve problems. The program sits in the Astronomy, Physics, Engineering and Computer Science department and leads to the Computer Science AS degree. Students build a base in programming, algorithms and computer systems, then apply it through hands-on projects and practical problem solving. These skills lead toward careers in IT, security, data analysis and building software. The curriculum suits students planning to transfer to a four-year university as well as those aiming to enter the technology industry or create their own software ideas. Faculty in the department also oversee related programs in the sciences and engineering, so students can explore connected fields while they complete their studies. Prospective students can review the department page for faculty contacts, program maps and information about the support services available on campus.
