Sociology examines everyday social life, shifts in society and the causes and effects of human behavior. Sociologists study groups, organizations and societies and the ways people interact within them, from families to crowds and from work to sport.
The field offers distinct perspectives on the world along with research techniques that can be used on subjects such as crime, education reform, family life, emotion and conflict. The major is part of the College of Arts and Sciences and is delivered in person at Ithaca.
