Overview

The statistics doctorate prepares students for research and teaching careers at universities and for comparable roles in industry or government. Graduates are expected to collaborate with researchers in applied fields and to write and defend a dissertation. The department does not admit students seeking only a terminal master's degree, though it does admit those who want a master's on the way to the doctorate. Students who pass the A exam may receive a master's without a thesis if their committee recommends it. The program is delivered in person on the Ithaca campus.
