AA/AS in Geological and Earth Sciences/Geosciences

Geology at Cuesta College sits within the Earth and Ocean Science program, which covers the planet's rock, its seas, and its air. Students look at how minerals and rocks form, how plates and volcanoes behave, and how landscapes and the ocean floor take shape. The study also reaches into fossils and the history of life, and into the evaluation of valuable ores, energy resources, and natural hazards. The Associate in Science is mapped at 60 units across four terms, and prior learning may count toward it through the college's credit for prior learning process. Students who want to look further can open the matching area-of-study page on the Cuesta College website. It lays out sequences of courses meant to help with choosing classes each term and with planning what comes after graduation, whether that means transfer, work, or more study. The division also lists a contact for specific questions about the subject.
