Overview

The undergraduate real estate major sits in the Driehaus College of Business and is open to students across that college who want to build careers in the industry. It is meant to prepare them to work and succeed in the real estate community at local and national levels and to adapt as the field changes. The degree is interdisciplinary and reaches across departments and colleges, reflecting the view that competence in real estate depends on understanding many professional disciplines and how they interact. Required courses cover finance and real estate law, and students pick electives from economics, architectural history, geography, sociology, anthropology, history and public service management. Students who finish the program are expected to understand how architectural and urban history inform real estate analysis and valuation, among other outcomes. It offers a strong base for those aiming at any area of a profession in growing demand.
