BA/BS in Computer Science

This bachelor of science treats computing as a branch of mathematics, asking which kinds of problems a machine can actually solve. Students build mathematical and algorithmic skills for tackling difficult problems, and graduates look toward work ranging from artificial intelligence to application development. Two optional concentrations let students tilt the degree toward either mathematics or cybersecurity. Those who want even more breadth can pair computer science with a second major in pure mathematics or in data science. The program sits within the mathematics and computational sciences school on the St. Davids campus. Faculty act as mentors, classes stay small, and students describe a close department community. Technical training is set alongside the university's Christian liberal arts approach, which encourages graduates to think about ethics and personhood when they work with data and technology.
